Because I had worked so successfully with Marianne in the past, I asked if she would meet with my daughter and advise her regarding what changes were worth making and which weren’t. Marianne’s advice was spot on when she advised my daughter not to paint the kitchen cabinets but to just replace the backsplash and counters/sink and to remove the “dry bar” area in the living room in order to open that area up. Marianne then drew up a plan for furniture placement. She also gave sound advice regarding a small bathroom suggesting to replace the shower enclosure but not to change out the sink or tile. All of Marianne’s advice was invaluable and she further guided my daughter in the selection of tile and quartz in the kitchen. I would definitely use Marianne again – even if it was regarding a location out of town as this was! I was new to the city so it was very comforting to have gotten a recommendation from someone I could trust. Highly Recommend this business!! The designer is so knowledgeable and creative in all aspects of her business. She designed and led the renovation of our home’s lower level. Construction personnel are aware of her talent and knowledge and respect and trust her. During our renovation skilled construction personnel called her at times for advice and direction. In addition, and fortunately for us, her involvement in our project included working with us to select furniture, rugs, flooring, window coverings, art work, stone work, etc. to complete the total picture. We would have trusted her to make these selections without our involvement as she was attuned to our style. Relying on her guidance we have also made changes to our main floor’s living room. We had been wanting to remodel our kitchen for a long time and met with several kitchen designers. We weren’t happy with what we were seeing so we called a builder we had used in the past and he recommended Marianne. She came to the house and we could tell immediately that she would be a good fit for us. Her attention to detail is amazing and she is an excellent communicator. I have worked with Marianne Kohlmann on many projects as an interior designer where I was the architect. I highly recommend her work either as a consultant to an architect or directly with the homeowner. She is sympathetic to the architecture of the home to arrive at solutions that fit the place, whether that be modern, Prairie/Organic, or traditional styling. She is also very organized and efficient, working well not only with architects and homeowners but various builders and tradespeople that will be constructing or remodeling these homes. Our project needed a quick turnaround, as we bought our downtown condo at the end of October 2019 and we wanted the kitchen and two bathrooms remodeled while we were gone from February to June 2020. Marianne understood our urgency and really listened to what we wanted. She provided excellent designs and very efficient material selection assistance. Her relationship with suppliers was invaluable in this process. With her guidance, we had everything in place to begin demolition in two months! She and our contractor had a great rapport and worked together seamlessly.
